On the Denver shooting

Apparently no one attending the movie in Denver was armed with a weapon and attempted to "take out" the shooter. Such a scenario is long-standing myth from the National Rifle Association. The reality is that even a number of pistol-carrying patrons, despite firearms training, would be unlikely to hit a moving assailant in a crowded and panic-stricken theater. The pistol-carrying patrons would be more likely to kill fellow patrons by accident -- or each other.
